INFORMATION BULLETIN (99-117) Sustainable Fisheries Division 907-586-7228 September 23, 1999 12:20 p.m. NMFS OPENS DIRECTED FISHING FOR PACIFIC COD BY CATCHER VESSELS USING TRAWL GEAR IN THE BERING SEA AND ALEUTIAN ISLANDS MANAGEMENT AREA The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is opening directed fishing for Pacific cod by catcher vessels using trawl gear in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands management area, effective 12 noon, Alaska local time, October 1, 1999, according to Steven Pennoyer, Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS. This action is necessary to fully utilize the portion of the 1999 total allowable catch of Pacific cod allocated to catcher vessels using trawl gear in this area. All other closures remain in full force and effect. This information bulletin provides notice that a regulatory change has occurred. Do not rely upon it to guide you in complying with the regulatory change.
