C SEASON DIRECTED FISHERY FOR POLLOCK IN STATISTICAL AREA 620 OF THE GULF OF ALASKA CLOSES


The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) reminds fishermen that directed fishing for pollock in Statistical Area 620 of the Gulf of Alaska (GOA) will close effective 12 noon, Alaska local time (A.l.t.), October 1, 1999, until 12 noon, A.l.t., October 6, 1999, according to Steven Pennoyer, Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS.

Regulations at 50 CFR 679.23(d)(3) require that, absent a previous closure, the C season fishery in Statistical Area 620 closes to directed fishing for pollock at 12 noon, A.l.t., October 1, 1999, and that the D season fishery will consequently begin at 12 noon, A.l.t., October 6, 1999.

After the effective date of this closure, the maximum retainable bycatch amounts at 50 CFR 679.20(e) and (f) apply at any time during a trip.
