NMFS ANNOUNCES 2002 RECORDKEEPING & REPORTING WORKSHOPS IN SEATTLE AND TACOMA, WASHINGTON


The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), Alaska Region, and the United States Coast Guard, North Pacific Regional Fisheries Training Center (USCG), will present workshops for the fishing industry on 2002 recordkeeping and reporting (R&R) requirements at 50 CFR part 679 for fisheries of the exclusive economic zone off Alaska, according to Jim Balsiger, Alaska Region Administrator.

The workshops will include discussion of R&R and permit requirements along with instructions for completion and submittal of the required forms and logsheets. Suggestions and feedback on existing procedures are welcome. The workshops are scheduled as follows:

November 16, 2001, 10 a.m. to 12 noon Pacific standard time, Room 310 - FISH EXPO, Washington State Trade and Convention Center, Seattle, WA.

November 28, 2001, 2 p.m to 4 p.m. Pacific standard time - Trident Seafoods Corporation, 401 Alexander Avenue, Building 592, Tacoma, WA.

November 29, 2001, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Pacific standard time - Fishing Vessel Owners Association, 4005 20th Avenue West, Room 232, Seattle, WA.
