NMFS ISSUES PROHIBITED SPECIES DONATION PERMITS TO NORTHWEST FOOD STRATEGIES

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) announces the renewal of permits to Northwest Food Strategies (NFS) that authorize the distribution of Pacific salmon and Pacific halibut to economically disadvantaged individuals under the prohibited species donation (PSD) program, according to James W. Balsiger, Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS. NFS has been issued PSD permits under 50 CFR part 679.26 to distribute Pacific salmon and Pacific halibut incidentally caught in the Alaska groundfish trawl fisheries. These PSD permits are effective through August 15, 2005.

Please contact the Sustainable Fisheries Division at the number listed above for more information.
