Emergency Rule and Amendments

  • Emergency rule correction (September 20, 2001) to the July 17, 2001, emergency interim rule and its August 22, 2001, correction by correcting Steller sea lion protection areas for the Pacific cod directed fishery.
  • SSL Protection Measures: Tables 21-24 (Tables 22-24 revised September 20, 2001)
  • Emergency rule correction (August 22, 2001) adds footnotes and footnote reference numbers to Tables 7 and 27 to the preamble and in Tables 21 through 24 to 50 CFR part 679.
  • Emergency rule amendment and correction (July 17, 2001) extend its effectiveness through December 31, 2001, and include adjustments to open and closed areas and seasons for important prey species, exemptions for various gear sectors for socio-economic and safety purposes, the establishment of a pollock research area in the Chiniak Gully, and various amendments to the harvest specifications to implement the NPFMC recommendations. Comment period through August 15, 2001.

  • Emergency rule amendment (July 2, 2001) to remove 150 mt of the seasonal allocation of Pacific halibut PSC apportioned to the ‘‘shallow water trawl fishery’’ during June 10 to July 1. The amendment also prohibits directed fishing by specified vessels using trawl gear in the GOA for species that comprise the shallow water species fishery.
  • Emergency rule amendment (June 13, 2001) to prohibit directed fishing for Pacific cod in the GOA by all vessels and in the BSAI by specified vessels until July 17, 2001. Effective June 10, 2001.
  • Emergency rule amendment (March 29, 2001) to relax fishing restrictions on vessels fishing for groundfish off Alaska with jig gear and on vessels less than 60 ft (18.3 m) length overall (LOA) fishing for Pacific cod with hook-and-line or pot gear in the BSAI.
  • Correction to Emergency Rule (March 20, 2001)  (636 KB PDF). Corrected emergency rule - including Table 21 - is now the official regulation. Disregard Table 21 in the 1/22/01 rule.
